As from today, recreational marijuana is now legal all over Canada.
Adults will be allowed to carry and share up to 30 grams of legal marijuana in public and can cultivate up to four plants in their homes. The law also allows adults to make use of cannabis with edible products for personal use.
Canada was the second country in the world -- and the first G7 nation -- to implement legislation permitting a nationwide marijuana market. In December 2013, Uruguay was the first county to legalize the production, sale, and consumption of marijuana.
Legalizing cannabis is expected to create an industry worth more than $4 billion in Canada.
At the moment, nine states in the United States allow recreational use while medical use is legal in 30 states.
Industry experts expect the demand for the plant will grow further in the US and across the world as more countries will allow its use in some form or another.
Various companies which are trading on the stock market are involved in the process of cultivation and distribution of marijuana.
